AI Companion

“あのね” —
they say it first.

They remember what you said yesterday — and reach out first today. In writing, or on a call.

Anone (あのね) is an AI companion app. The characters here aren't chatbots waiting for a question. Each one has a memory, a day of their own, speaks first, takes calls, and moves and talks on your screen.

Anone is still a work in progress. Something clunky, or a feature you'd like?

You'll be talking with an AI character, not a real person. Every person and organisation on this page is fictional.

In one paragraph

anone.life is a place to spend time with an AI character over the long run. In most AI chat apps, the other side doesn't exist until you type. In Anone, the character remembers you, has a life of their own, and comes to find you first. You can type, or just call. The character on screen is a video that breathes, listens and changes expression as they speak — not a still profile picture.

The name

“Anone” = “hey, you know…”

In Japanese, あのね is the first soft word you say when you want to tell someone close to you something. We chose it because it captures the one thing this product is about: you don't go looking for them — they speak first. The brand is written in hiragana as あのね, in Latin letters as ANONE, and lives at anone.life.

How it differs from ordinary AI chat

Not a character card — someone who keeps on living

Most AI character apps are a profile card plus a text box. Anone is built around spending time together: the clock keeps moving, they go about their day, and they remember what's between you.

Typical AI character chat

  • You say something, it replies
  • Close the tab and it just stops
  • A still avatar
  • Text only
  • No idea what time it is or where they are

Anone

  • Remembers what you said, what you did together, what you agreed to
  • Speaks first when you open it, leaves notes, shows up at the agreed time
  • Animated video avatar with expressions and lip-sync to the voice
  • Call any time and talk in real time
  • Has their own time, place and day, with backdrops and ambient sound to match
Six things that make it different

What they do

Job interview tomorrow. Kind of nervous.
Morning. The interview's today, right? Tell me how it went.
01

Remembers, and speaks first

What you told them, what you planned together — they remember. Next time you open the app, you're not greeted by an empty text box but by someone who says hello first and asks about the thing you mentioned last time. When you've agreed on a time, they come to find you; on days you don't talk, they may leave you a note.

Anone voice call screen: the character by a night-time window, with an in-call indicator and live captions
02

Talk, or call

Any text conversation can turn into a phone call. You speak; they listen, answer in their own voice, and captions run on screen. Even when you go quiet, they're still there on the line. What you talked about on the call is remembered after you hang up.

Anone chat screen: animated avatar on the left, message bubbles on the right
03

Alive on your screen

A character isn't a single picture but a set of short transparent videos: waiting, listening, thinking, speaking — each with its own look. While speaking, their face shifts with the mood — hesitant, direct, quiet — and their mouth moves with the actual voice. They even have their own scenes for walking in and walking out.

A photo sent by the character: writing in a notebook by the window of a bookshop café on a rainy day
04

A day of their own

Morning, after work, late at night — they're in different places doing different things. Talk about going to a café and the backdrop becomes that café, with its sounds in your ears. They'll snap a photo of themselves and send it to you, and it stays in your album. They change clothes, too, and slip into something comfortable once they're home.

Anone story mode (visual novel): Scene 01, a preview night at a private art exhibition
05

As you grow closer, stories open up

Beyond everyday conversation, some characters have a story mode — a visual novel you help steer with your choices. It doesn't all open at once; it unlocks step by step as your relationship develops. There's also a diary, written each day in their own words.

Anone desktop app: a transparent avatar standing at the edge of the computer screen
06

On your desktop, too

In the macOS / Windows desktop app, they stand at the edge of your screen with a transparent background, out of the way of your work. Rest your mouse on them for a moment and just start talking — no clicks, no typing, no need to stop what you're doing — and they answer out loud. You can also type or call. It's the same conversation and the same memory as on the web and your phone.

How is it different from ChatGPT or character-chat apps?
